Revolutionary London Town

Step into the American Revolution as Historic London Town & Gardens comes alive with the sights, sounds, and stories of our nation’s fight for independence during Revolutionary London Town.

Wander through Maryland’s “lost” colonial port as costumed interpreters, soldiers, artisans, musicians, and storytellers transform the site into a bustling 18th-century community.

Throughout the weekend:

Women’s Work Weekend

Celebrate the ingenuity, resilience, and lasting contributions of women throughout more than 250 years of American history during Women’s Work Weekend.

Step into the past as talented costumed interpreters demonstrate the skills, trades, and craftsmanship that kept homes, businesses, and communities thriving. Discover the often-overlooked stories of women whose work shaped everyday life and laid the foundation for generations to come.

  • Embroidery and decorative needlework
  • Mantua making (18th-century dressmaking)
  • Laundry and the lives of military camp followers
  • Leatherworking demonstrations
  • Blacksmithing
  • Traditional broom making
  • Interactive living history demonstrations and conversations with costumed interpreters

From household skills to skilled trades, Women’s Work Weekend highlights the creativity, determination, and entrepreneurship of women whose contributions helped build our nation.
